Furniture is the Foundation of Timeless Interiors

Our human connection to interiors has been integral to my love of design, this leads me to focus on furniture as a leading medium when I design interiors. I consider the space and the objects within, harmonising their influence on the architecture of a building, a home… I do not only view furniture as function and aesthetic but an intrinsic link between us and our habitable surroundings.

The Scale, placement, and materiality of a table, a chair, or a piece of joinery can completely transform the way we experience a space.  Furniture defines proportion, rhythm, and flow.  It brings the human scale into a building, shaping how people move, interact, and feel.

This approach has its roots in my time at Leeds Metropolitan University, where I studied 3D, interior and furniture design.  The Corner Table, was an early exploration of “intelligent use of space” exploring our relationship between space and object. The study focused on how objects relate to space, balancing practicality with an emotive connection.  This project laid the foundation for the philosophy I still hold today: furniture is not secondary to architecture, it is integral to it. Furniture is the foundation of timeless interiors.
